NOVEMBER - 2006 Form 823904 Section - MV58-1 Adapter Selection Guide Radiator or Coolant Bottle Neck Styles Cooling system and cooling system cap adapters are the means to connect test equipment to either the cooling system or cooling system pressure cap. To ensure accurate test results, they must duplicate the integrity of the vehicle’s closed system by forming a reliable airtight seal between the tester and the cooling system or cap. Choosing the correct adapter for the coolant bottle, radiator, or pressure cap used on your specific vehicle is critical to obtaining accurate, reliable results. Matching the appropriate adapter to your application from at least 15 different cooling system adapters and 14 different cooling system cap adapters may seem confusing, but by following the procedure below, and using the charts and illustrations provided, you will find the selection process straight forward, quick, and reliable. Start by simply looking up the make, model, and year of the vehicle to be tested in the Application Guide located on pages 20-21 of this manual. The part numbers for the system test adapter and cap test adapter are conveniently listed here. If you cannot identify your vehicle using this guide, or are unsure of the information, continue to the following procedure. There are three (3) easily recognizable styles of radiator or coolant bottle necks: 1. Bayonet Style BA 2. External threaded Style ET 3. Internal threaded Style IT Remove the cap and inspect the neck of the radiator or coolant bottle. If it is a bayonet style of neck, this is a style BA. If the neck has an external thread, this is a style ET. If the neck has an internal thread, this is a style IT. Using the guide on the following pages, locate the style for your application. Compare your cooling system cap to the images shown in the guide, and review the applications listed. Adapters for testing cooling systems have a yellow cap; adapters for testing pressure caps have a blue cap. Using this information, it should be easy to identify the appropriate adapter for your application. NOVEMBRE - 2006 Formulaire 823904 Section - MV58-1 Guide de sélection de l’adaptateur Styles de goulot de radiateur ou de réservoir de liquide de refroidissement Les adaptateurs du système de refroidissement et du bouchon du système de refroidissement servent à connecter l’équipement de test soit au système de refroidissement, soit au bouchon à soupape de pression du système de refroidissement. Pour assurer l’exactitude des résultats de test, ceux-ci doivent reproduire l’intégrité du système fermé du véhicule en formant une fermeture hermétique fiable entre le testeur et le système de refroidissement ou le bouchon. Il est essentiel de choisir un adaptateur approprié pour la bouteille de liquide de refroidissement, le radiateur ou le bouchon à soupape de pression de votre véhicule particulier afin d’obtenir des résultats exacts et fiables. Le choix de l’adaptateur approprié pour votre application parmi au moins 15 adaptateurs de système de refroidissement différents et 14 adaptateurs de bouchon de système de refroidissement différents peut sembler difficile, mais si vous suivez la procédure ci-dessous et les diagrammes et les illustrations fournis, le processus de sélection sera simple, rapide et fiable. Para asegurar unos resultados precisos de la prueba, deben duplicar la integridad del sistema cerrado del vehículo formando un sello estanco al aire fiable entre el probador y el sistema de enfriamiento o la tapa. La selección del adaptador correcto para la botella de refrigerante, radiador o tapa de presión usado en su vehículo específico es crucial para obtener resultados precisos y fiables. Estilos de cuello de botella de radiador o refrigerante La correspondencia del adaptador apropiado a su aplicación entre al menos 15 adaptadores diferentes de sistemas de enfriamiento y 14 adaptadores diferentes de tapas de sistemas de enfriamiento puede parecer confuso, pero al seguir el procedimiento de abajo y usar los cuadros y las ilustraciones proporcionados, verá que el proceso de selección es simple, rápido y fiable.
